From first conversation to appointment.
How international groups appoint an Australian resident director with us, step by step.
- 01
Initial conversation
We discuss your group, your plans for Australia and your timetable.
- 02
Proposal
We confirm the scope of the role and provide a fee quote.
- 03
Checks and engagement
We complete identity document checks on the company and its owners under Australia's anti-money laundering laws, and sign an engagement letter. We agree the indemnity and insurance arrangements that suit the company's stage.
- 04
Appointment
We give our consent to act and are appointed as director. If the company is new, the appointment is made as part of registration with ASIC. Every director needs a Director ID before they are appointed, including overseas directors, so we discuss the timing with you as part of planning your set-up. Reservoir Legal explains the process for overseas directors in Director IDs for overseas directors.
- 05
Ongoing support
We review and sign board documents promptly, keep oversight of Australian compliance and stay in regular contact with your team.
- 06
Changes or exit
If your plans change, we manage an orderly resignation and handover, giving you time to appoint a replacement.
